We were thrilled to find out that IMAS’ flagship event, the International Mixed Ability Rugby Tournament (IMART), has been shortlisted for the European Diversity Awards in the Community Project category.
Since their launch six years ago, the European Diversity Awards have become the continent’s most prestigious and widely respected diversity event. Recognising individuals and organisations who have made an outstanding contribution to equality, diversity and inclusion across Europe. The EDA recognises achievement in all areas of diversity: race, age, sexual orientation, disability, gender identity and belief.
“We are thrilled that we have been shortlisted for the European Diversity Awards,” said Martino Corazza, IMAS Director and International coordinator. “It represents an extraordinary acknowledgment of the passion, dedication and commitment all the players, clubs, sponsors and organisers across Europe and the rest of the world have shown towards this idea.
IMART is the only international event where people of all abilities play together the same unadapted full contact rugby union abiding by World Rugby Laws, rejecting prejudice, segregation and assumptions about what people can or cannot do. Through the existing Mixed Ability teams in England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Spain and Argentina, rugby has inspired a social movement promoting real social inclusion and equal participation based on membership and belonging, breaking down barriers and transforming lives”.
The winners of the European Diversity Awards will be announced on November 16th.
