Alcobenda Rugby Club received Mixed Ability training last weekend in Madrid. The educational team from IMAS Spain spent a day at the club, sharing knowledge and good practice around the Mixed Ability model. The training began on Friday afternoon at the Anabel Segura Cultural Center with a presentation and a Q&A session. Saturday morning was about the practical interaction and a session with ‘Los Granates’ at Las Terrazas rugby pitch, under the supervision of trainers David Izquierdo, José Manuel Martínez Rubí, Paqui Moreno and Jorge Villanueva. The training consisted of several activities, cooperative games and a kinball session.
After that, Jorge Villanueva presented his experience with Mixed Ability and rugby, based on his expertise as a teacher and a player for Union Rugby Almeria. Then, Pablo Elipe presented a study carried out by INICO at the University of Salamanca around the impact Mixed Ability has on players and the wider environment, with Fabian Sainz concluding the training with a specific module to support Mixed Ability coaches from a sport psychology perspective.
We welcome Alcobendas to the Mixed Ability family!
