The Ability Rugby International (ARI) Championship results for the season 2023/24 are out. Congratulations to the Llanelli Warriors who retain their title. 
Championship collates results from mixed ability sides around the world, male and female. 170 different teams are featured in the table. 
The Championship was conceived after the 1st IMART in 2015 . It rewards participation more than winning, but winning is recognised. Therefore to triumph, the winning team will have had to play regularly and have been successful. In line with the IMAS manifesto, the teams at the top end of the table are regularly participating in their communities at a grass-roots level, disabled and non disabled athletes enjoying sport without segregation, “just another rugby team” to quote the Sundays Well Rebels. 
Points are awarded thus: 50 points for a full rugby match, 20 points for a win, 10 points for a draw, 20 points for other full contact matches: shorter matches, festivals and tournaments. 
There is a strong showing for sides from the Rugby “Home Nations”, where the sport is well established at grass roots level, but the spread of the concept is encouraging. Spanish and Argentinian sides make the top 20. In Australia we see the All-Abilities teams making an impact and it is good to see so many female sides represented. 
Obviously this table cannot recognise all the good work some of these groups are doing, Tarucas in Chile offering 6 different sports, West Cork Jesters with a clubhouse that covers everything from DIY to yoga, the many other sports, fitness groups, dance sessions, discos, trips and social events that are related to these teams. 
It is a rugby table reflecting that week in week out, across the world, 100s of athletes of all abilities are taking part in a physical collision sport, and like any sporting competition there are winners. Congratulations to all the teams, staging a rugby match is an achievement in itself. 
Special congratulations to the top teams and the 2023/24 ARI Champions, the Llanelli Warriors. 
This table also sets us up for the next IMART when so many of these teams come together to compete directly – Pamplona 2025 is going to be a very special event, see you there.
